This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring PADS4 Viewer on ProDVX APPC-4200 series devices running Android 9.


Before You Start

Supported ProDVX APPC-4200 Series Devices

The following ProDVX APPC-4200 series devices are supported:

  • APPC-4200
  • APPC-4220

Important: The network settings are disabled by default on these devices.

  • Before proceeding with installation, enable Wi-Fi and/or Ethernet in the Android settings.

Minimum Requirements

PADS4 Server Version

Before installation, ensure your PADS4 Server is running PADS4 version 2022.1 or later.

It is recommended to complete the installation of the PADS4 Server first before setting up your device.

PADS4ProDVX Version

The minimum PADS4ProDVX version supporting the APPC-4200 Series is PADS4ProDVX 2.0.

Firmware Requirements

The device must meet the following firmware requirements:

Firmware updates can be requested from your ProDVX dealer.


Resetting the Device

If your device was used before, it is recommended to factory reset the device to free up storage and remove any software conflicts.

Factory Reset Steps

Step One

Open Android Settings.

Navigate to SystemAdvanced.

Select Reset Options.

Click on Erase all data (Factory Reset).

Click Reset Device.

Step Six

Click Erase Everything to confirm.

The device will automatically restart after the reset is complete.

Installing PADS4 Viewer

Follow the steps below to install and configure PADS4 Viewer on your ProDVX APPC-4200 Series device.


Step 1: Install PADS4ProDVX from USB Stick

The PADS4ProDVX.apk is available in:

PADS4 Server Directory:

C:\Program Files\PADS4\Clients\Apps

Important: If you download a newer version, place it in the apps directory on the PADS4 Server to ensure correct installation.


Installation Steps

Step One

Copy PADS4ProDVX.apk to a USB stick.

Step Two

Insert the USB stick into the ProDVX device.

Step Three

Open the Apk Installer app and allow access to external storage if prompted.

Step Four

Browse the USB stick and select PADS4ProDVX.apk.

Step Five

If prompted, enable installation from unknown sources, then return and select the apk again.

Step Six

Press Install when prompted.

Step Seven

Click Open once installation is complete.


Step 2: Validate Date & Time Configuration

Incorrect date & time settings may cause certificate errors or connection issues.

Steps to Validate Date & Time

Step One

Open PADS4ProDVX and navigate to System Settings.

Step Two

Go to the Date & Time menu.

Step Three

Configure date & time correctly. (Enable Auto Sync if available.)

Step Four

Return to the PADS4ProDVX Launcher.


Step 3: Connecting to PADS4 Server

Format:

<protocol>://<host>:<port>/<hostpath>/

Steps to Connect to PADS4 Server

Step One

Enter the PADS4 Server Address.

Step Two

(Optional) Enter a custom Viewer Name.

Step Three

Press Start.

Step Four

If Android System WebView isn’t updated, it will be downloaded and installed.

Step Five

After WebView updates, restart PADS4ProDVX and press Start again.

Step Six

If prompted, configure PADS4ProDVX as the Home App and press Always.

Troubleshooting
