This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring PADS4 Viewer on ProDVX UW-Series devices running Android 8.1.


Before You Start

Supported ProDVX UW-Series Devices

The following ProDVX UW-Series devices are supported:

  • UW-24
  • UW-28
  • UW-37

Minimum PADS4 Requirements

PADS4 Server Version: 2024.1 or later

Android Version: 8.1.0

Firmware Requirements:

Firmware updates can be requested from your ProDVX dealer.

Important:
By default, network settings are disabled on the device. Before installation, go to Android Settings and ensure Wi-Fi or Ethernet is enabled.


If the device was used before, perform a factory reset to clear storage and prevent software conflicts.

Step One

Open Android Settings.

Navigate to System → Reset Options.

Select Erase all data (Factory Reset).

Step Four

Click Reset Tablet and confirm by selecting Erase Everything.

Step Five

The device will restart automatically after the reset.


Installing PADS4 Viewer

Follow these steps to install PADS4 Viewer on your ProDVX UW-Series device.

Step 1: Download and Transfer PADS4 Viewer APK

C:\Program Files\PADS4\Clients\Apps

Transfer to USB Stick:

Step One

Copy the PADS4ProDVX.apk file to a USB stick.

Step Two

Insert the USB stick into the ProDVX UW-Series device.


Step 2: Install PADS4 Viewer APK

Open the APK Installer App on the device (Allow access to external storage if prompted).

Select Install and browse the USB for PADS4ProDVX.apk.

Step Three

Click on the APK file to start installation.

If prompted, enable Allow Install from Unknown Sources and then retry installation.

Click Install, then Open when the installation is complete.


Configuring PADS4 Viewer

Step 1: Validate Date & Time Configuration

Incorrect date and time settings can cause certificate errors and connection issues.

Step One

Open PADS4ProDVX and go to System Settings.

Navigate to Date & Time.

Configure correct date & time, or enable Auto Sync Date & Time if supported.

Step Four

Return to the PADS4ProDVX Launcher.


Step 2: Connect to PADS4 Server

Format:

<protocol>://<host>:<port>/<domain>/

Step One

Open PADS4ProDVX and enter the PADS4 Server Address.

Step Two

(Optional) Enter a custom Viewer Name.

Step Three

Click Start to connect.

Step Four

If the Android System WebView is outdated, it will automatically update.

Step Five

Once updated, the PADS4 Viewer will restart. Press Start again.


Adjusting PADS4 Viewer Settings

You can configure additional settings in PADS4ProDVX.

Accessing the Options Screen

To access settings:

  • Hold the left mouse button or touch the screen for 3 seconds.
  • Click Launcher Settings to return to the PADS4ProDVX app.

Updating PADS4 Viewer

After installation, PADS4 Viewer will automatically update when the PADS4 Server is updated.


Accessing Android Menu When PADS4 Viewer is Running

If you access the Android menu while PADS4 is running, the device will reboot after 30 seconds.

To prevent this:
Stop the PADS4ProDVX app within 30 seconds before making changes.

Troubleshooting

Issue: Video transition effects not working
Reason: Device hardware limitations.

Issue: Device fails to connect to the network
Solution: Ensure Wi-Fi or Ethernet is enabled.

Issue: PADS4 Viewer restarts frequently
Solution: Check PADS4 Server connection and WebView updates.
