This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring PADS4 Viewer on LG WebOS4.1 devices.


1. First-Time Use

Before installation, ensure that the PADS4 Server is set up and configured properly.

This guide is specific to WebOS4.1. If the Configuration Wizard does not start automatically, reset the device as described in 1.2 Resetting the Device.

1.1 Configuring the Device

No changes need to be made before installing the PADS4 Viewer. Proceed directly to Installation.


1.2 Resetting the Device

If the device was used previously, perform a factory reset to clear storage and prevent software conflicts.

Step One

Press the Settings button (cog icon on the remote control).

Select Admin.

Select Turn On.

Enter the default PIN code: 0000.

Confirm to start the factory reset.

After resetting, the Welcome Screen will appear. Follow the steps in 1.1 Configuring the Device.


2. Installing PADS4 Viewer

Follow these steps to install the PADS4 Viewer on LG WebOS4.1.

Installation Steps

Press the Power On button.

Press the Settings button (cog icon on the remote control).

Select EZ Settings.

Select SI Server Settings from the right menu and press OK.

Step Five

Set Fully Qualified Domain Name to ON.

Step Six

Set the URL for the PADS4 Server:

  • HTTP: http://<server>/pads4/apps/lg.zip
  • HTTPS: https://<server>/pads4/apps/lg.zip (secured connection using HTTPS)
  • Replace <server> with the IP address or domain name of the PADS4 Server.

Step Seven

Set the desired rotation (0, 90, 180, 270).

Set Application Launch Mode to Local.

Set Installation Type to ZIP.

Select Local Application Upgrade → Remote.

Select Confirm to start the upgrade.

Step Twelve

After the download, power off/on the device.

After completing these steps, the PADS4 HTML5 Viewer will download and start automatically.

  • A connection indicator icon will appear at the bottom left of the screen:
    • Green = Connection successful
    • Red = Connection issue

To troubleshoot, check the Viewer Settings and log files for errors.


2.1 Checking Device Firmware

Ensure the correct firmware version is installed for full PADS4 Viewer functionality.

Press the Home button on the remote control.

Ensure the firmware version is 03.15.40 (required for PADS4).


2.2 Updating Firmware

Step One

Copy the firmware .epk file into the LG_MONITOR folder of a USB stick.

Insert the USB stick into the LG WebOS4.1 device.

The device will detect the USB stick and start the firmware update automatically.


2.3 Adjusting PADS4 Viewer Settings

  • Press and hold the left mouse button or touch the screen for 3 seconds to access Viewer Settings.
