This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring PADS4 Viewer on Crestron TSS-1070-B-S devices.


1. First-Time Use

During installation, you will need to configure the PADS4 Server location. It is recommended to complete the installation of the PADS4 Server first before configuring the Crestron device.

The minimum PADS4 Server version required to run PADS4 on Crestron is PADS4 Foundation 2022.3.

1.1 Resetting the Device

If the device was previously used, a factory reset is recommended to clear storage and prevent interference with the PADS4 Viewer software.

Step One

Log in to the web configuration interface of the Crestron device.

Click the arrow button next to the Action button at the top-right of the screen.

Select Restore.

Click Yes in the confirmation dialog.


1.2 Updating Firmware

PADS4 is included with the Crestron firmware and cannot be installed separately.

The minimum firmware version that includes PADS4 is 2.003.1011.

2. Installing PADS4 Viewer

Follow the instructions below to run PADS4 Viewer on Crestron.


2.1 Set Crestron Application Mode to PADS4

PADS4 is included in the Crestron firmware and can be installed by selecting PADS4 as the Application Mode in the web configuration interface.

Log in to the web configuration interface of the Crestron device.

Click the Settings tab.

Select Applications.

Select PADS4 from the Application Mode dropdown.

Click “Save Changes” at the top-right of the web interface.

Click “Yes, Reboot Now” in the confirmation dialog.


2.2 Connecting to PADS4 Server

After installation, PADS4 Viewer must be connected to the PADS4 Server.

PADS4 Server Address Format

protocol://host:port/hostpath/
  • Protocol: Use HTTP or HTTPS, depending on whether a valid SSL certificate is used.
  • Host: The DNS name or IP address of the PADS4 Server.
  • Port: Optional – if non-default HTTP/HTTPS ports are used, specify the port number.
  • Host Path: Configured in PADS4 System Management (default: PADS4).

Connection Steps

Step One

Enter the PADS4 Server Location.

Step Two

(Optional) Specify a Viewer Name. If left blank, the PADS4 Server will generate one.

Press the Start button.

Step Four

Grant permission to permanently store content on the device when prompted.

Step Five

If the Android System WebView is outdated, it will be automatically updated.

PADS4 Viewer will be downloaded. Wait for installation to complete, and the Viewer will start automatically.


2.3 Adjust PADS4 Viewer Settings

To adjust PADS4 Viewer settings directly on the Crestron display:

  • Hold down the left mouse button or touch the screen for 3 seconds to open the Options Screen.
  • To return to the PADS4 app, press the Launcher Settings button.

3. Configuring the Crestron Occupancy Sensor

PADS4 supports the Crestron occupancy sensor. Follow the steps below to pair the sensor and register it in PADS4 Workspace.

3.1 Pairing the Occupancy Sensor with the Screen

Log in to the web configuration interface of the Crestron screen.

Click the Settings tab.

Open Device Pairing.

Select POE Occupancy Sensor in the Device Model dropdown.

Enter the IP address or FQDN of the sensor.

Click Save Changes at the top-right of the web interface.

Step Seven

After saving, the Pairing Status should change to Online.


3.2 Finding the Occupancy Sensor in PADS4 Workspace

After pairing, the sensor will be visible in PADS4 Workspace Admin.

The sensor will be listed in the table.
