Steps to Add or Modify an Office 365 Microsoft Exchange Connection
1. Start the Data Provider Wizard
- Open the Data Provider Wizard in PADS4.
- Follow the steps for Adding a Data Provider or Editing a Data Provider.
- Select Office 365 Microsoft Exchange as the provider type.
2. Configure Connection Settings

Specify Proxy Settings (If Required)
- If your organization uses a proxy server, enter the required settings.
- Contact your system administrator for details.

Authenticate with Microsoft Exchange
- Click the Authenticate button.
- A Microsoft sign-in page will open.
- Log in with your Exchange Online credentials and authorize PADS4 to access your environment.
- Once authentication is successful, the status will display successful.

Reauthentication
- Each time you edit this data provider, you will need to reauthenticate.
3. Choose the Data Source to Retrieve
Select the type of Exchange data to retrieve:Option | Description |

My Calendar | Retrieves calendar events from your personal Exchange calendar. |
Shared Calendar | Retrieves shared calendars by specifying email addresses. Useful for meeting rooms or group events. |
User Availability | Retrieves free/busy status for specified users. Useful for scheduling applications. |
My Inbox | Retrieves emails from your personal inbox. Optionally specify a folder and whether to include subfolders. |
Shared Inbox | Retrieves emails from a shared inbox by specifying email addresses. Optionally merge data from multiple inboxes. |
4. Configure Data Filtering Options

Include Message Text
- Check this option to retrieve the email body along with other metadata.

Specify Date Range (From / Until)
- Use a static or dynamic period to filter results.
- Reduces memory usage and increases performance.
If retrieving a large period of data, this may cause high memory usage. Use filters or set a maximum number of rows to avoid excessive data loads. Click Next to continue.
5. Finalize the Setup
- Complete the remaining steps in the Data Provider Wizard.
- Click Finish to finalize the setup.
Additional Notes
- If authentication fails, ensure that your Microsoft 365 account has the necessary permissions to access Exchange Online.
- If large data sets are causing performance issues, limit the time range or the number of rows retrieved.
- If using a proxy server, ensure that proxy settings are correctly configured.
