Data series define what data is displayed in the chart and how it is represented. Each data series connects to a data source (such as a database or XML file) and contains the settings that control the type of chart, style, labels, colors, and other display options. Although most charts work with a single data series, you can add multiple data series to display different sets of data in the same chart.

Managing Data Series

To Add a New Data Series

  1. Go to the Data Series section in the Chart properties window.
  2. Click Add….
  3. Follow the wizard to define the properties of the data series.
  4. Click Finish to add the data series.

To Modify an Existing Data Series

  • Select the desired data series from the list and click Edit….

To Remove a Data Series

  • Select the data series and click Remove.

To Duplicate a Data Series

  • Select the data series and click Duplicate to create an exact copy.

To Adjust the Display Order

  • Use Move Up or Move Down to change the sequence of data series.
  • Note: The sequence determines how data series appear in the chart.
