# Masks

**Masks** are templates used to define the layout and structure of digital signage messages. They determine where content appears on the screen and how it’s formatted—like a design framework that can be reused across different messages.

### Creating a New Mask

To create a mask:

1. **Navigate to the ‘Masks’ section**\
   Select **Masks** from the navigation menu.

2. **Click 'Create Mask' or Add New**\
   This will open the mask editor interface.

3. **Define mask settings**:
   * **Name**: Assign a name that reflects its purpose (e.g., “Welcome Layout” or “News Bar”).
   * **Resolution/Size**: Choose the appropriate screen resolution (e.g., 1920x1080 for full HD).
   * **Orientation**: Select **Portrait** or **Landscape** depending on your display setup.

4. **Design the mask layout**:\
   Use the editor tools to add and position content zones such as:
   * **Text blocks**
   * **Image zones**
   * **Video areas**
   * **Scrolling tickers**
   * **Dynamic data fields (e.g., date, weather, RSS)**

5. **Save your mask**\
   Once the layout is set, save the mask so it can be reused when creating messages.

### Managing Existing Masks

* **Edit**: Open any mask to update its layout or adjust fields.
* **Duplicate**: Create a copy of an existing mask for quick modifications.
* **Delete**: Remove unused masks (note that masks in use by messages may be locked from deletion).

Masks allow you to maintain a consistent visual identity while giving users flexibility to update message content within a predefined structure.
