# Playlist properties

These properties define the **videos or sounds** that will be played by the **video/sound element**. You can either **select a single file** or create a **playlist of multiple videos/sounds** that will play sequentially.

## **Managing the Play List**

* **Add**, **edit**, **reorder**, or **remove** play list items.
* Use **navigation buttons** to move through the playlist.
* The **total duration** of all playlist items is displayed.
* **Play list item properties** vary depending on the type of element.

## **Video/Sound Play List Item Options**

| **Option**                     | **Description**                                                                                                                                                     |
| ------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Video from Content Library** | Uses a **video or sound file** from the **PADS4 Content Library** (recommended). Content is **automatically synchronized** across all PCs.                          |
| **Video from File**            | Uses a **video or sound file** from an **external source** (including RTSP streams). Files **must be manually managed**, and playback requires the exact file path. |
| **Video Stream**               | Uses a **video stream** from an **IP camera, streaming media server, or online source**. Requires a valid **streaming URL**.                                        |
| **Separator**                  | Inserts a **pause** in the playlist (no video/sound will be played).                                                                                                |
| **HDMI / DVI**                 | Plays **HDMI/DVI content** from devices that support it (e.g., Samsung SSSP3 and higher). Specify the source using: **SOURCE://HDMI1** or **SOURCE://DVI2**.        |

## **Play List Item Properties**

### **Content**

* Specifies the **file reference** for the video/sound.
* If using **"Video from File"**, the **full file path** must be provided.
* If using a **video stream**, enter the **streaming URL**.

### **Clip Video**

* Allows **playing only a selected portion** of the video/sound.

| **Property** | **Description**                                                      |
| ------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Start**    | The **starting frame** for the clipped section.                      |
| **Duration** | The **length (in frames)** of the clipped section or pause duration. |

### **Effect**

* Defines the **incoming transition effect** for each play list item.
* **Effect duration** can be specified in **seconds**.

## **Using Video Streams**

* **Connect to a Video Stream** from a **streaming media server, IP camera, or online file**.
* Enter the **URL** of the video stream.

## **Remarks**

* The **playlist stores references to video/sound files** but does **not store the actual media**.
* If a **referenced file is updated**, the new version will **automatically be used during playback**.
* **Playlist properties are disabled** if the element is connected to a **data source**—content will instead be determined by the real-time data feed.
