# APPC R23 series (Android 11)

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for **installing and configuring PADS4 Viewer** on **ProDVX APPC-R23 series devices running Android 11**.

**Compatible Devices:**

* **APPC-15XP (R23-7222)**
* **APPC-22XP (R23-7222)**
* **APPC-24X (R23-7001)**
* **APPC-32X (R23-7001)**

**Minimum PADS4 Version Required:** **2024.1**

## **1. Before You Start**

### **1.1 Resetting the Device**

If the device was previously used, perform a **factory reset** to free up storage and prevent software conflicts.

#### **Factory Reset Steps**

    Open **Android Settings**.

    Click on **System**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Three">
    Click on **Reset options**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Four">
    Select **Erase all data (factory reset)**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Five">
    Click **ERASE ALL DATA**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Six">
    Confirm by clicking **ERASE ALL DATA** again.
  </Step>

**Note:** Factory resetting **deletes all data**. Ensure you **back up** important files before proceeding.

### **1.2 Ensure PADS4 Server is Installed**

During installation, you must **specify the PADS4 Server location**. It is **recommended** to **install and configure the PADS4 Server** before setting up the device.

### **1.3 Ensure the ProDVX API is Installed**

**The ProDVX API is required** for PADS4 Viewer to function on ProDVX APPC-R23 devices.

#### **Check if the ProDVX API is Running**

    Look for the **PA icon** in the **Android status bar**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Two">
    If the icon is missing, **drag down the status bar** and check notifications.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Three">
    Look for a notification stating **"ProDVX API (AOSP) is running."**
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Four">
    If the API is **not installed**, download it from [**here**](https://github.com/PADS4/PADS4-Viewer-ProDVX-r23/releases/download/1.0/ProDVX-API-AOSP-v1.3d.apk) and install it before proceeding.

### **1.4 ProDVX API Token**

PADS4 **uses a default API token** for ProDVX API authentication.

#### **Replace the Default Token (If Needed)**

If you have **a custom API token**, follow these steps:

    Navigate to **C:\Program Files\PADS4\Foundation\Apps** on the **PADS4 Server**.

    Locate the file **prodvx-api-token.txt**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Three">
    Open the file and **replace the existing token** with your **custom API token**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Four">
    Save the file.
  </Step>

## **2. Installing PADS4 Viewer**

### **2.1 Download the PADS4 Viewer**

**You can download the PADS4 Viewer from:**

**PADS4 Server:**

```text theme={null}
https://[yourPADS4Server]/[domain]/apps
```

**Important:** If you download a newer version, **also place it in the apps directory** on the **PADS4 Server**. Otherwise, the server will install the older version when the device connects.

### **2.2 Install the PADS4 Viewer**

    Copy the **PADS4ProDVXv2.apk** to a **USB stick**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Two">
    Insert the **USB stick** into the **ProDVX device**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Three">
    Open the **Explorer app** on the device.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Four">
    Click **USB** and locate **PADS4ProDVXv2.apk**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Five">
    Click **CONTINUE** when prompted.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Six">
    Click **INSTALL** when prompted.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Seven">
    Wait for installation to complete, then click **DONE**.
  </Step>

### **2.3 Set PADS4 Viewer to Start Automatically**

**Use either:**

**ProDVX ProMGR software** *(Contact ProDVX for details)*<br />**Android device settings** *(Follow steps below)*

#### **Enable Auto-Start in Android Settings**

    Open **Android Settings**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Two">
    Navigate to **System Settings → Digital Signage Options**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Three">
    Select **Auto Start Application**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Four">
    Click **Start App**, then select **PADS4ProDVXv2**.
  </Step>

## **3. Configure PADS4 Viewer**

### **3.1 Set PADS4 Server Connection**

**Format:**

```text theme={null}
<protocol>://<host>:<port>/<hostpath>/
```

**Example:**

```text theme={null}
https://mydomain.pads365.com/pads4/
```

#### **Steps to Connect to PADS4 Server**

<Steps>
  <Step title="Step One">
    Enter the **PADS4 Server Address**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Two">
    (Optional) Enter a **custom Viewer Name**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Three">
    Click **Start**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Four">
    Grant **access permissions** to **photos, media, and files**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Five">
    The **PADS4 Viewer will download** and start automatically.
  </Step>

## **4. Adjusting & Updating PADS4 Viewer**

### **4.1 Adjust Viewer Settings**

**To open the options screen:**

**Hold the left mouse button** or **touch the screen for 3 seconds**.<br />Click **Launcher Settings** to return to **PADS4ProDVXv2 app**.

### **4.2 Updating PADS4 Viewer & PADS4ProDVXv2**

**If you update the PADS4 Server**, both **PADS4 Viewer** and **PADS4ProDVXv2** will **automatically update** to the latest version.
