# DN73 (Android)

This manual provides step-by-step instructions for configuring the Giada DN73 device and installing the PADS4 Viewer. It covers initial setup, APK installation, autostart configuration, and viewer setup.

**Compatible Devices:**

* **DN73 (Android 10)**

**Minimum requirements**

PADS4 Version Required: **2022.1**

## **First-Time Use**

During installation, you will need to **configure the PADS4 Server location**. It is recommended to **complete the PADS4 Server installation first** before proceeding with device setup.

  The minimum **PADS4 Server version** required for the **PADS4Giada app** is **PADS4 Foundation 2022.1**.\
  The minimum **PADS4Giada version** supporting **DN73 and DN74** is **PADS4Giada 1.0**.

### **Resetting the Device**

If the device was previously used, a **factory reset** is recommended to **clear storage** and **prevent interference** with the **PADS4 Viewer software**.

    Select **Backup & Reset**.
  </Step>

    Select **Factory Data Reset**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Four">
    Click **Reset Tablet**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Five">
    Confirm by clicking **Erase Everything**.
  </Step>

### **Enabling Default Superuser Access**

This step is **required** to enable **automatic updates** of the **PADS4Giada app**. If **Superuser Access** is not granted, **manual interaction** will be required for updates.

    Open the **SuperSU app**.

    Go to **Settings**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Three">
    Click **Default Access**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Four">
    Select **Grant** in the dialog that appears.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Five">
    Exit the app.
  </Step>

*Optional:* To reset **screen orientation**, navigate to:\
➡ **Android Settings** → **Display** → **HDMI** → **Screen Rotation** → **Select "0"**.

## **Installing PADS4 Viewer**

Follow the steps below to **install and configure PADS4 Viewer** on **Giada DN73 and DN74**.

### **Installing PADS4Giada from USB Stick**

The **PADS4Giada.apk** is available on the **PADS4 Server** in the following directory:

C:\Program Files\PADS4\Foundation\Apps
```

Alternatively, download the **latest version** from [**here**](https://github.com/PADS4/PADS4-Viewer-Giada/releases/latest) and place it in the **PADS4 Server apps directory** to ensure the correct version is installed.

#### **Installation Steps**

    Copy the **PADS4Giada.apk** to a **USB stick**.

    Insert the **USB stick** into the **Giada DN73/DN74 device**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Three">
    Open the **File Explorer app** on the device.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Four">
    Select **USB Storage**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Five">
    Click on the **APK file** to install.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Six">
    If prompted with a **security warning**, click **Settings**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Seven">
    Enable **Unknown Sources** and confirm by clicking **OK**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Eight">
    Return to **File Explorer** and click the **APK file** again.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Nine">
    Click **Install** in the confirmation dialog.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Ten">
    After installation, click **Open** to start the **PADS4Giada app**.
  </Step>

### **Validating Date & Time Configuration**

Ensure the **date and time** are set correctly to avoid **certificate errors** or **connection issues**.

    Click **System Settings** to open **Android Settings**.
  </Step>

    Navigate to **Date & Time**.

    Configure the **correct date and time**.
  </Step>

    Enable **Auto Sync Date & Time** if supported by the network.

### **Connecting to PADS4 Server**

**PADS4 Server Address Format:**

protocol://host:port/hostpath/  
```

* **Protocol:** `HTTP` or `HTTPS` (depends on SSL certificate).
* **Host:** DNS name or **IP address** of **PADS4 Server**.
* **Port:** *(Optional - specify only if using non-default ports).*
* **Host Path:** Configured in **System Management** *`(default: PADS4)`*.

#### **Connection Steps**

    Enter the **PADS4 Server Location**.

    Specify a **Viewer Name** (if left blank, PADS4 will generate one).
  </Step>

    Press **Start**.

  <Step title="Step Four">
    Grant **permission to store content** when prompted.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Five">
    If **Android System WebView** is outdated, it will be updated automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Six">
    The **PADS4 Viewer** will be **downloaded and installed**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step Seven">
    If prompted, set **PADS4Giada as the Home App** and press **Always**.
  </Step>

### **Adjusting PADS4 Viewer Settings**

To access **Viewer Settings**:

* **Press and hold the left mouse button** or **touch the screen for 3 seconds**.

### **Updating PADS4 Viewer & PADS4Giada App**

The **PADS4 Viewer & PADS4Giada app** will **automatically update** when the **PADS4 Server** is updated.

### **Accessing Android Menu**

If you access the **Android Menu** while **PADS4Giada** is running, the device will **reboot in 30 seconds** (as the **Viewer Monitor Service** detects inactivity).

To prevent reboot, **stop the PADS4Giada app within 30 seconds**.

## **Supported Features & Limitations**

Below are the supported features and limitations for **PADS4 Viewer on Giada DN73 & DN74 (Android 7.1).**

## **General Limitations**

  **Data Providers** – **HTML5 Viewer** cannot read data directly from external sources; it must be retrieved through the **PADS4 Data Server**.

  **Content Library** – Supports **content from PADS4 Content Library** but **does not support file paths pointing to a local disk**.
</Warning>

<Warning>
  **Proof of Play Storage Limit** – Stores **up to 50,000 records** offline. When the limit is reached, the **oldest records are automatically deleted**.
</Warning>

<Warning>
  **Storage Capacity** – The available **storage for content varies** depending on the **device and browser**.
